Storytelling with The Hub…take 2?

January 6, 2010

Well here’s to hoping! I excitedly announced the Hub would be venturing into the realm of urban storytelling this past December and what happened? The tundra came to visit! As much as I love a good snow, I’m hoping the weather holds this weekend so that we can commence with our Community Voices workshop taking place on the 9th 2-6pm at The Soundry. Register here or just walk-in. The cost of the class is $20. There will not be any live storytelling post workshop this time.

In a previous post I wrote a bit about the growing awareness of storytelling as a wonderfully multifaceted entertainment medium. I mentioned great organizations like The Moth and Speakeasy DC. Here’s another one for you– I can’t believe I forgot to include this one before: StoryCorps. Their mission is “…to honor and celebrate one another’s lives through listening.”  StoryCorps is amazing; they’ve created the opportunity for thousands of people to record and preserve their stories. I encourage you to check out their website and find one of their locations. You get to take a recording of your story home with you and it’s also archived in the Library of Congress. You can listen online here.

See you this Saturday!

  1. Thanks for the SpeakeasyDC shout out! Keep us in the loop. Glad to see storytelling spread.

    • Of course– Thank you to you too! Love the Speakeasy podcast.
